  • How do I register?
    • You can register by clicking the ‘Fundraise’ button. Once registered, you’ll receive an email with your login details, a link to your fundraising page and some tips to help kick start your fundraising.

  • Why do I need to register?
    • So we can help and guide you when you need it. Plus, you’ll get your own fundraising page that you can customise. Your supporters can make a secure online donation via your page and tax deductible receipts will be emailed to them automatically.

  • What sort of things can I do to help MIA reach zero deaths from melanoma?
    • It’s entirely up to you! Get creative and if you need some inspiration check out some of our featured fundraisers here.

  • What support can I expect from MIA?
    • MIA is always on hand to help you as much as we can to plan a successful fundraiser, however, due to limited resources MIA is not able to take an active role in coordinating your event.

  • Where does my fundraising money go?
    • The funds you raise go directly to MIA to support our world-class research, treatment, and education programs to save lives from melanoma.

  • How can I promote my fundraiser?
    • Post a link to your fundraising page on social media. We have some downloadable resources you can use to help promote your fundraising event/activity.

      Don’t underestimate the direct ask – email, SMS, WhatsApp. Fundraisers who share their page by SMS raise 46% more than those who don’t! And don’t be afraid to ask more than once; we’re all busy, so a friendly reminder is often welcome.

  • Can I use the MIA logo for promotional collateral?
    • The Supporting Melanoma Institute Australia is available upon request. Any promotional collateral featuring this logo must be sent to MIA for approval prior to printing, production, or digital use.

  • Are donations tax deductible?
    • All donations over $2 are tax deductible. Your supporters will automatically receive their tax deductible receipt via email.

  • Can an MIA representative speak at my fundraising event?
    • MIA may be able to provide you with an MIA speaker from our Speakers’ Hub for your event. Please submit a request via events@melanoma.org.au Please note, whilst we will make every effort to accommodate your needs, we cannot always guarantee availability.

  • Can an MIA ambassador support my fundraiser?
    • Our MIA ambassadors generously take time out of their demanding schedules to help us with our events and raising awareness about melanoma. The MIA Comms Team manage these relationships and have a good understanding of their schedules and their current engagement with MIA. Please submit a request via events@melanoma.org.au

  • Can I seek support from local businesses?
    • Sponsorship is a great way to promote your fundraising event/activity and boost your fundraising efforts. However, we do ask that you do not accept money or product donations from companies that make, sell, or promote:

      • Cigarettes and/or smoking
      • Alcohol or alcohol related products
      • Sunbeds and/or indoor tanning salons

      Smoking and heavy drinking are associated with an increased risk of developing any cancer. Sunbed use is strongly linked to an increase in melanoma. It is therefore very important that an event that raises money for melanoma research and awareness of the disease is not seen to be encouraging the use of tobacco, alcohol, or sunbeds.
